Skrillex - Syndicate (free download)

EA is re-making 90's game series Syndicate, starting with the 2012 game of the same name. More interestingly, they have enlisted Skrillex to record a song for the soundtrack which is available as a free download.

Is Skrillex going to release his debut album on 8th November? Possibly. (update: Japan 9th November)

If you wander over to this page on Amazon UK you will discover this:

Is November autumn? Just about. Slap bang in the middle of his Mothership Tour of North America and Europe, an album by Skrillex is scheduled for release on  Tuesday 8th November 2011. Tuesdays are the traditional day for albums to be released in America and this is an import for the UK, so it figures this could be the release date of still untitled debut album.

If this is correct then stay tuned for an official announcement very soon.

Update: This is all but confirmed to be happening. The Japan CD release is the following day on 9th November. See here.

Burns - Iced Out (+ Calvin Harris remix)

Burns is another great producer with a new release out today. Last week the news broke that he'd signed to Calvin Harris' label, Fly Eye, so it only seems fitting for 'Iced Out' to be released with a Calvin Harris remix.

Original mix:

Calvin Harris remix:

Noisia - Tommy's Theme

We love surprises. Mau5trap promised us something new today and here it is: Noisia's latest release, 'Tommy's Theme'. Quite an epic Dubstep track with some interesting strings and generally lots of bass wobble.

Download it from Beatport.

Skrillex - Bangarang

Here's what is probably the longest, best quality version on the internet right now of Bangarang by Skrillex, which presumably be included on his debut solo album, due out this autumn.

Breaking: Swedish House Mafia announce One Night Stand album, Madison Square Garden and Milton Keynes Bowl gigs confirmed

Here we go! Swedish House Mafia have confirmed the big news. They will take over Madison Square Garden on 16th December and The Bowl at Milton Keynes on 14th July 2012.

Highlights of the Bowl gig will be recorded for BBC Radio 1 and is in partnership with Cream.

They also intend to release a "live album" in December, One Night Stand, with tracks such as Antidote and a remix of Coldplay's Every Teardrop is a Waterfall.

Tickets for both gigs go one sale next Friday, 30th September 2011.

Also, expect announcements regarding similar shows in Brazil and Australia on 28th September and 10th October respectively.

Message from the boys:

We hope you are excited about our news that we will be the first ever DJ artists to play at the legendary venues of Madison Square Garden and the National Milton Keynes Bowl Arena — and we hope that you will be there to be a part of the historic events.

We also hope you like our take on Coldplay’s “Teardrops,” and our amazing collaboration with Knife Party, “Antidote,” which will be out on our One Night Stand album. Our thanks go out to those guys as well.

There were so many factors in play when it came to choosing our venues, but we knew that making history together was one of our most important criteria.

So many of you will be able to join us at MSG — one of the most famous arenas in the world. As if that wasn’t enough, an astounding 65,000 fans will stand together, free of sound restrictions and worries, at the Milton Keynes Bowl in Buckinghamshire when we take to the stage and make history there.

We’ve worked hard with the promoters and suppliers to deliver incredible ticket value and to make these monumental events as accessible to our fans as possible. For those who can’t be there in person, we will be working to bring the experience to you in some capacity via the Web.

The venues are just the first part of the equation, and we will be announcing the guests who will join us and our theme for the Milton Keynes Bowl in February — so we hope you’re ready for more surprises!

It’s important to reflect on the incredible opportunities in the dance music scene now, ones that we wouldn’t have thought possible even one year ago. While it is bigger than ever, the dance music culture still manages to be the best-kept secret in the world.

Sure, you hear many of the world’s greatest electronic producers on the radio nowadays or see them on MTV, but the heartbeat of dance music is still on the dance floor — and that’s still one space left for only the most dedicated and passionate fans.

New music is made every day. It’s in secret forums, back-room dance floors, college dormitories, and laptops, constantly being passed around with a shh and a wink. But that’s why we love it, right?

When we brought the Masquerade Motel to Miami this year, everyone in attendance sang along as we played “Save The World” for the first time. The only other footage of the song was from fan-uploaded YouTube videos of Steve playing it in Australia, and it was at that moment we recognized the uniqueness of a festival or large show like this: It’s unique, it’s wonderful, and it’s a family. And it’s all because of you.

As attendance numbers soar and the venues for shows of this caliber grow, the debate rages on: Has house gone mainstream?

We don’t know the answer, and we don’t care. The rules are the same.

We come. We rave. We Love.

That’s the real code of what we do, and anyone who comes to any of our gigs knows that.

We’d like to give a massive shoutout to all those artists who have inspired us in this journey of electronic music to this point. All of the DJs, singers, writers, producers, promoters, dancers, designers, FX teams, lighting jockeys, sound engineers, bloggers, nightclub workers… anyone and everyone who makes this possible.

We wouldn’t be able to do this without you,

History is made by the people.

So people: Let’s do this!

With so much love and awe for you,

Swedish House Mafia

Take a listen 'Bring out the Devil':

Swedish House Mafia and Knife Party - Antidote

As part of their takeover of Pete Tong's show on BBC Radio 1 right now, they announced the name of their Knife Party collaboration, 'Antidote'.

It first premiered on the station back in August as Knife Party played as part of BBC Radio 1's live show from Ibiza. We'll hazard a guess that it will be released on Knife Party's EP which will come before the end of the year.

Swedish House Mafia to play Milton Keynes Bowl and Madison Square Garden?

CONFIRMED: See here

Last month we told you about the teaser website set up by Swedish House Mafia, 230911.com. Before their set at Creamfields they played a teaser video leaving a series of 18 numbers and letters waiting for someone to figure out what they meant. We believe someone has. Kenneth Rosario, who commented on Dancing Astronaut. He thinks (and we think so too) that this means there are two forthcoming Swedish House Mafia shows, and possibly a world tour.. Here are what the letters could mean:

Swedish House Mafia One Night Stand

Madison Square Gardens 16.12.11

Milton Keynes Bowl 14.07.12

This all seems to fit together quite nicely, seeing as the two dates are Friday and Saturdays respectively. They won't be giving out any more clues before 23rd September, so you'll have to wait and see if this is correct.

We only think this is part of the announcement. If you visit 161211.com, there is a cryptic message of "Until the return...". We know there's talk of an artist album from the trio, but what is returning? Could it be Eric Prydz? On that site there is a hidden link to an image of a magazine article about a band called "Zeeb?". What bearing this has we don't know.

Don't forget that on Friday 16th September, the Swedish House Mafia are taking over Pete Tong's show which you won't want to miss!

Update: Check out 140712.com. The domain is owned by SHM's label, EMI. This pretty much confirms it.

(Thanks again to Kenneth Rosario (@kennethrosario) for this one!)

Update 2: As you may have seen in comments, Greg Tedesco claims to have been the first to have thought of the code!

Paris Hilton might be in Ibiza right now and going to learn how to DJ but it has nothing to do with deadmau5 or David Guetta

TMZ ran a report on Thursday claiming that "socialite" Paris Hilton has become close friends with Afrojack and deadmau5, they're training her to become a DJ and that she's in Ibiza with David Guetta recording her next album. They also claimed that Hilton was planning an on-stage appearance with deadmau5 in the near future.

The whole report seems like a mixture of old news and made up stuff. She made this "on stage" appearance with deadmau5 last Friday in Las Vegas. She dressed up as a ghost for 'Ghosts 'n' Stuff and played a Theremin.

Next, it says she's "pretty tight" with him and is being mentored by deadmau5 are not true. He took to Facebook and told fans: "im not teaching Paris Hilton how to DJ [sic]" and that she just "showed up to a show" and that "she was respectful and polite, and all around nice to chat with, so i let her be a ghost [sic]". Close friends? No. Does deadmau5 even "DJ" himself? No.

The last part of the story said that Hilton was in Ibiza "researching" and preparing to record an album with David Guetta. Yes she's in Ibiza right now but is recording with Guetta? No. NME were told by his record label that there were "no plans" for this to happen.

The only part of the story that makes sense is that she's quite friendly with Afrojack. Back in June a tweet from Hilton revealed they were to record together, and she tweeted recently that he was a "great friend". He could also be teaching her how to DJ, we don't know; but it looks like whoever at TMZ wrote this seems to be putting two and two together and making five.

deadmau5 to release artist album in 2012

We thought we might get some unheard tunes tonight  from either deadmau5, Feed Me and Skrillex tonight, but instead we got this.

Pete Tong confirmed on his weekly BBC Radio 1 show that deadmau5 is still working on that illusive artist album, and will bring it out "next year". Fans have been waiting for a proper artist album for almost two years now. Soon after the release of 'For Lack of a Better Name', rumours swirled of a proper album from him, rather than a compilation made up of previously-material and a few new tracks.

When '4x4=12' was announced, Ultra Records (his US and Canadian label) billed it as the 'artist album', when in fact it was just another compilation, full of singles and already heard tracks. But now instead of sticking out another compilation this year, we can now expect the artist album "next year".

Example - Midnight Run (produced by Feed Me)

At around 7:30 this evening, Zane Lowe had the pleasure of the first full play of a track from Example's new album, 'Playing in the Shadows', which comes out this Sunday.

Zane apparently had the choice of track, and he clearly has some kind of taste as he picked the Feed Me-produced track, 'Midnight Run'.

'Midnight Run' is available for download this Sunday on 'Playing in the Shadows'. Pre-order it on iTunes and Amazon.
