Feed Me releasing new EP 6th February, includes Gemini collaboration 'Whiskers'

What a busy time Jon Gooch a.k.a. Feed Me is having. He takes his Teeth across North America in March and April and is now set to drop a new EP on Monday 6th February 2012 on mau5trap. The only confirmed track so far his 'Whiskers', which is co-produced by Gemini and premiered on the UKF Dubstep channel this afternoon.

Expect more news as to what other tracks the yet-to-be-named EP will include and the name of the EP itself, although I'd be surprised if 'Trapdoor' isn't included.

Beatport announce 'Beatport Play' remix contest platform

Beatport, the main go-to source for DJs and enthusiasts to find the latest EDM, have announced today the launch of remix platform 'Beatport Play', a central hub for producing talent to get stems for tracks for free.

Zedd is a prime example of an artist who has used remix contests as a springboard to his career. He entered his first contest in 2010 and since then has hit #1 on the Beatport Top 100 with 'Slam The Door', released on Skrillex's Owsla label.

A whole host of remix contests have launched today from a variety of artists:

Beck & Charlotte Gainsbourg “Paradisco” (Because Music)
Chuckie “What Happens In Vegas” (CR2/Big Beat)
Steve Aoki “Ladi Dadi” (Ultra)
Christian Smith “Indecent Exposure” (Tronic)
Bingo Players “Rattle” (Hysteria)

Visit play.beatport.com to get remixing!

Guardian: Skrillex to play Sonisphere Festival 2012

The Guardian, in an article about the apparent lack of truth in the death of Rock, have leaked that Skrillex will be playing Sonisphere Festival this year.

He points out that hugely successful dance acts such as Nero, Chase & Status, Skrillex and Pendulum blend rock with electronica. Pendulum played at the Download heavy metal festival last year, and Skrillex has been booked for this year's other big metal festival, Sonisphere.

In the same way Chase & Status have caused controversy for being booked for Download this year, I'm sure Skrillex will have the same effect, having already ruffled feathers within in the metal community for hooking up with Korn on their latest album 'The Path to Totality'.

Sonisphere Festival in the UK is due to take place Friday 6th - Sunday 8th July 2012 at Knebworth House, Hertfordshire.

This one's almost up there with 'Big Bad Wolf' in terms of weirdness.

Feed Me confirms March/April 2012 USA & Canada tour

After teasing details last Friday, Feed Me has confirmed his Teeth tour of the USA and Canada this March and April.

This will be his first tour with his new Teeth setup, having played a handful of gigs with it in Europe last year including UKF Bass Culture at Alexandra Palace.

Interestingly, the poster for the tour has a few TBCs for some dates, three of which are in Miami from 23rd-25th March, the same weekend as Ultra Music Festival in Miami.

Pre-sale tickets go on sale tomorrow (Wednesday 19th January), but no news on general availability so keep your eyes peeled on Feed Me's Facebook page for more information.

Dr. Phonics - Troll in the Dungeon

Dr. Phonics unleashed a brand new drum and bass track last night which samples a certain line by Professor Quirrell from a Harry Potter film. From what I've heard Jacob didn't originally have the idea for the sample but wiped the floor with the person who did with this!

'Troll in the Dungeon' is the follow up to his debut single, 'Whiplash', released at the end of last year.

Legalities of the sample aside, you can download the song for free above.

Skrillex & The Doors - Breakn' a Sweat (Zedd Remix)

Zane Lowe will premiere Zedd's remix of 'Breakn' a Sweat', the latest single from Skrillex, taken from his 'Bangarang' EP.

Tune into BBC Radio 1 at 7:30PM (GMT) to hear it first. This post will of course be updated with the radio rip in due course.
